Fluck Yeah, Friday!

Celebrating Amazing Women: #IWD2025
3

I am incredibly privileged and grateful to have come from remarkable women. My mother: a strong, intelligent, loving woman who radiates light. Her mother, who gave birth to five children and was then in a life-changing car accident that completely altered her life. My paternal grandmother, who was magnificent in every way—open, loving, intelligent, although she may not have believed it herself.

I think of some of the incredible teachers I had and several women stand out: Mrs White, Mrs Brock, Mrs Mason (yes, schools in Australia tend to use Mr. & Mrs still). The incredible colleagues I had when I worked in adult training, in retail, then at my first school when I became a teacher.

How lucky I am, and how grateful, that I still have contact with the friends I made at school, aged 12. With the women I collected when I had my babies, as my kids grew and started school and played sport. How amazing I have connected with people all over the world because technology has allowed it. The incredible women I’ve connected with here on Substack.

On the Eve of International Women’s Day I’d like you to share and celebrate the women in your life who are amazing, incredible, motivating.

Give them a shout out!

In Case You Missed It

I wrote this poem for all women. From a place of love, as a reminder to myself, as a reminder to the world.
