Your Body’s Been Listening—Time to Apologise
Talk to Your Body Like It’s Your Bestie, Not Your Frenemy
Quick question: when was the last time you said something kind about your body? And no, “My hair looks decent today” doesn’t count. I’m talking about real-deal gratitude for the magical meat-suit that carries you through life every day.
Here’s the truth: your body has been listening to every word you’ve said about it. Every snarky comment, every harsh critique, every “Ugh, why do I look like this?”—your body’s heard it all. And if you’re like most of us, it’s been hearing a lot more negativity than love.
Let’s be clear: this isn’t about blaming you (because we’re all guilty of this). It’s about recognising the impact of our words and starting to make it right.
Your Words Matter—Here’s Why
Our brains are sneaky. They believe what we repeatedly tell them (I know!). So, when you constantly think or say things like:
“I hate my thighs.”
“Why can’t I just look like [insert sexy midlife women here]?”
“I’ll feel better about myself when I lose weight.”
...your brain hears: “I’m not good enough as I am.”
And here’s the thing: your body takes on that message, too. It starts to feel like the enemy when really, it’s your greatest ally. It’s clever, filled with deep wisdom (I know, mind-blowing!) and if you get soft and quiet, ask it questions, it will answer you! (Sometimes not in the way you expect—and it takes practice, like all these fabulous things because no one taught us.)
Time to Flip the Script
If your body’s been listening to all that negativity, imagine what could happen if it started hearing love, respect, and gratitude instead. Let’s start today by flipping the script (cos I love doing that!):
Instead of: “Ugh, I hate my arms.”
Say: “These arms hug the people I love and help me get through my day.”
Instead of: “Why can’t I look like her?”
Say: “My body is uniquely mine, and I’m grateful for all it does for me.”
Instead of: “I’ll love myself when I lose weight.”
Say: “I’m working towards my goals, but I deserve love and care right now.”

This Week’s Challenge: Apologise to Your Body
Here’s your mission, should you choose to accept it:
Write a short letter to your body. Start with, “Dear body, I’m sorry for...” and let the words flow.
End the letter with at least one promise to treat your body with more kindness this week.
Tag me or DM me with your promises—I’d love to cheer you on!
Because here’s the thing, Queenagers: your body deserves kindness, not criticism. And when you show it some love, it’ll love you right back.
Let’s start today, together.
And remember: you’re flucking flourishing, exactly as you are. 🌟

Love this post! Thanking my body for all the adventures it has taken me on, for birthing three amazing humans and as I stand naked looking in the mirror I notice how my hanging belly makes the shape of a smile 😊
I was a skinny kid -and slim into my early 20s. Then the summer I moved home from university, I noticed my thighs rubbing with the heat for the first time. I started working and nothing changed fast but I did start to accumulate flesh. I’ve never got back to my young svelte figure. But maybe I was never supposed to?! I think my body is crying out to be loved. First it grew polyps in my gall bladder (2018) which meant the whole gall bladder had to be removed. 5 years later it grew cancer in my breast leaving me with a chunk missing from there too. The end of last year it had grown a large ish polyp and fibroids in my uterus. The polyp was successfully removed but I’ve no idea what will happen with the fibroids. What I do know is that I am not giving my body the love it needs (or the correct nutrients). And due to perimenopause I have other issues - temperature regulation, aches and pains, eyesight worsening, brain fog, dryness in all sorts of places. All that fun and games. So this year I’m looking out for my body - plan to become best buddies and treat it to good supplements and healthier food. I have a really sweet tooth which I’ll not ignore, but it does worry me that I could easily become diabetic if I’m not careful. I think I do need to unwrap some issues with food. I’m a comfort eater and get weird about being hungry. At least I’m aware!
Anyway - we are what we consume so I will be consuming with that in mind and being grateful to my body for getting me this far and hoping it’s still up for another 40+ years :)
