Queenagers!
Today was the bookend to my week of lives. What started as an idea in response to European Mental Health Awareness Week has ended with me handing out flucks with joyful abandon!
But seriously, the goal isn’t calm. Calm is the by-product of doing the things that settle our nervous systems, whatever that happens to be at the time. It could be breathing (intentionally, not like a hyperventilating hyena), grounding by noticing your feet on the floor, a sensory check in, a body scan.
Play and laughter play a roll too. They fill us with good hormones. And I’m pretty sure it’s good for your stomach muscles too.
And of course, stopping the flucking scroll. It’s seriously shit for our brains and nervous systems so go into your settings and set a time limit on the apps you’re on regularly. Yes, I’ve done it for the Substack app (and Instagram). Because I could be writing my book instead of scrolling. Creating instead of consuming.
How does calm feel for you?
It’s individual, and maybe can feel different on any given day. Maybe it’s a weighted blanket. Maybe it’s sitting on the beach listening to waves. Maybe it’s saying “no”.
Do you present as calm but have a shit show going on underneath?!
Because if that’s you, you might need my new course, The Queenager’s Calm (Because Rest is Resistance). Become a paid member and you’ll get access to the whole course (and save some money!) We’ll be starting on June 7th.
A big, flourishing thank you to those of you who popped by my lives!! I am so grateful! It was amazing to see names pop up as I rambled on. Have a brilliant weekend.
Stay Flucking Flourishing!
Thank you to
